Andreas Butz grew up near the mountains of Appenzell in eastern Switzerland. He lives on a rarely known peak, St. Anton, part of the small village of Oberegg. With his wife Eve, son Janno, born in 2008, son Thilo, born in 2010, son Niel, born in 2012, some cats and some chickens he shares a "mountain hut", built in traditional Appenzell style, with a huge garden. As a photographer he is very often on the road: canoeing, paragliding, mountain biking, climbing or - due to the rougher terrain - with his Landrover. You can find his work in various Swiss and international magazines like Fernweh, Annabelle, Schweizer Familie, schöne Wohnungen, Appenzeller-Magazin, on the internet and in several exhibitions.

In 2012 he published four books with photos of different stories and themes, for example "Appenzellerland", published by herausgeber.ch and Appenzeller Verlag. His agency I M A G E different GmbH provides support and training for professionals in photography, digital publishing and marketing. He has been using Nikon cameras for his work for decades. He started with his fathers F2 and a 135mm. More and more he specializes in filming special projects.
